I welcome author Jonathan Mael to the podcast, his new book ‘Harlem World – How Hip Hop’s Super Showdown Changed Music Forever’ is out now.

The book chronicles the legendary rap battle between Cold Crush Bros and Fantastic Romantic Five, which took place at Harlem World Club in 1981. The stakes were high, with a $1000 prize for the winner. Mael’s book provides a micro-history of this momentous event and its impact on the music industry.
